The first real puzzle in Silent Hill: Townfall, the latest psychological horror from Konami, turns up early in the prologue inside Hotel Room 204. A door here is sealed behind a mechanism with three separate dials for day, month, and year, and while the game is technically still in its tutorial phase, the hints it gives are easy to miss if you're not paying close attention. True to Silent Hill form, nothing about the solution is spelt out directly.
Where to find the year
Search the room and you'll come across a document called the Room Service Card. It's branded for the Haldane Hotel and advertises a "NEW 1996 MENU", which is your year. Set the year dial to 1996.
How to find the day and month using the CRTV
The other two numbers come from the CRTV, which the game introduces around the same time. Tune it to the correct frequency, and you'll pick up a blurry broadcast showing two things: the number 18TH and a calendar with one month circled in red in the upper left corner. Working out the calendar's layout, that circled month lines up as January.
The solution
Set the day dial to 18, the month dial to January, and the year dial to 1996. Confirm the combination, and the door unlocks.
Quick tip: Use Quick Tuning on the CRTV to get into the rough frequency range first, then fine-tune with L2 and R2 from there. Trying to find the exact signal by sweeping manually from the start wastes far more time than it needs to.
