Deer & Boy Review: Get your tissues ready
Lifeline Games brings players a cinematic platformer about loss, grief, and finding a way through an increasingly overwhelming world.
JULY 1A lifelong PlayStation enjoyer, Emina has grown up with a controller in hand and a love for immersive, challenging games. She went through countless games, only rage-quitting two (but she went back to finish Bloodborne!), and avoiding horror games like the plague. When she is not cosplaying as an astronaut stranded on Atropos, a witcher or the ashen one, she's likely diving into the next big PlayStation exclusive, staying true to the platform that started it all.
Emina's taste in games is as varied as it is telling. She's drawn to atmospheric, story-rich experiences with titles like Little Nightmares and Reanimal, ticking every box for unsettling, beautifully crafted worlds (as long as they stop short of outright horror, mind you). When she's not creeping through shadowy corridors, she's swinging swords and making grand choices in sweeping action-adventures like Ghost of Yotei and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. She also has a soft spot for punishing herself with soulslikes like Black Myth: Wukong and Silksong, though by her own admission, she's more enthusiastic about them than she is talented. She'll get there eventually.
Emina is AltChar's reviews and guides contributor. She plays the games, forms her opinions, and puts them on the page, as simple as that. If there's a new release worth your time (or worth avoiding), she'll be the one to tell you.

TT Games' Legacy of the Dark Knight is a smooth and fun combo of the Arkham games and the LEGO universe, which takes you through the story of how Bruce Wayne became the Dark Knight. With fun visuals, a story that feels like a DC geek wrote it from his mom's basement, and fluid combat, this game will won over even the biggest Marvel fans.

Bubsy 4D brings us chaotic energy, humour, self aware jokes, and a reminder that the old, annoying mascot is still alive and kicking. Unfortunately, clunky controls and irritating movement make the experience rougher than it should be.

With a story that blends music discovery with grief, burnout and lost connections, Wax Heads successfully spins stories through music and memory. We spoke with the Creative Director and Creative Technical Director of Patattie Games on the game's relaxed approach to design, the focus on music as culture, as well as the core of the story, human expression.
MAY 11
Wax Heads brings an offbeat art style, a rich soundtrack, and an emotional story behind the simple act of recommending records to unknown people.
MAY 5
Driving buses in Emberville means respecting speed limits, braking smoothly at stops, and dealing with passengers who complain even when you follow the game's own instructions. But once you get the hang of it - it turns into a chill simulator that grows on you despite itself.
APRIL 30
I've never played as an octopus before, and Darwin's Paradox makes a compelling case for the concept. A cute protagonist, gorgeous environments, and a Pixar-like presentation that brings back the feeling of watching an animated movie as a kid, the difference being that the antagonist isn't a character, but the systems of the game.
APRIL 14
Deck Nine's finale to the story of Max and Chloe brings us gorgeous environments, meaningful choices, as well as a rewind mechanic that never gets stale. Technical bugs and occasional confusion can't diminish the emotional weight of a reunion that has been years in the making.
