Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is a 2D action-exploration game developed by Evil Empire in collaboration with Motion Twin, published by Konami, and launching on 15 October 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The 26th mainline entry in the Castlevania franchise and its first major new 2D release since Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014, the game entered production in 2022 and was announced at a PlayStation State of Play in February 2026. It is produced in celebration of the franchise's 40th anniversary, with Konami having greenlit new entries in their major franchises as part of a deliberate return to console and PC development beginning in 2021. Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the French studios behind Dead Cells and its Castlevania crossover expansion Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania (2023), were brought in as the primary developer and an advisory partner respectively, with their expertise in action-platformer design and prior work with the Castlevania IP making them a natural fit.

Set 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, the game takes place in 15th-century Paris, which has been engulfed by monstrous creatures spilling from a looming mystical castle. Players control Rose Belmont, a new female protagonist and successor to Trevor Belmont, voiced by Abby Trott, who wields the legendary Vampire Killer whip both as a weapon and a traversal tool. Dracula is voiced by Graham McTavish. Gameplay follows the classic Metroidvania template: a non-linear castle and city map opens up progressively as players defeat bosses, acquire new weapons and spells, and find key items that unlock previously inaccessible areas. The protagonist's whip can be used to strike enemies and swing across chasms, with mastery of both combat and movement central to progression.
