The Expanse: Osiris Reborn
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a third-person action RPG developed and published by Owlcat Games, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, in partnership with Alcon Interactive Group. Announced at the Future Games Show in June 2025, the game is set in the universe of The Expanse, the science fiction novel series by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck and the basis for the acclaimed Amazon Prime Video television series. It is scheduled to launch in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. A closed beta launches on 22 April 2026, available to players who purchase the Miller's Pack or Collector's Edition.
The game casts players as a customisable Pinkwater Security mercenary, choosing between Earther, Martian, or Belter origins, whose shore leave on the asteroid Eros is cut short when a station-wide lockdown pulls them into a solar system-spanning conspiracy. From there, players take command of the most advanced ship in the solar system and build a crew of companions, each with their own history, loyalties, and personal arc. Combat is dynamic and third-person, blending cover-based gunplay with real-time squad commands and an Exploits system that allows companions not in the active squad to contribute through hacking, diversions, and intel from the sidelines. Story decisions carry lasting consequences, shaping relationships, altering mission outcomes, and in some cases determining the fate of people around you. Owlcat have cited Mass Effect as a key influence, though the studio describes its approach to narrative as distinct from BioWare's model.
