Wardogs Season 2 didn’t go to plan. Bulkhead sped up progression to help players with less time to play, but some players reached top-tier armour and main battle tanks within days, so the season’s fresh start never really happened. The studio admitted it had gone too far, decided against resetting Season 2 mid-season, and brought Season 3 forward instead. Now we know when it arrives. Bulkhead and publisher Team 17 have confirmed that Season 3 launches on Steam on 12 November.
A new urban map and a proper wipe
Season 3 moves the fight to a new urban battlefield built around close-quarters combat, giving the whole community a fresh map to learn together. It comes with a season wipe, adjustments to progression, and a longer season overall. Bulkhead says the goal is to recapture the shared sense of discovery and achievement that defined the game’s Early Access launch, and progression will move back towards the pace of Season 1.
Limited Mode keeps the big guns out
For players who want a more level playing field, Limited Mode restricts weapons, ammunition, armour and vehicles. It’s designed to preserve the feel of early-to-mid-game combat and reduce the edge that high-end gear gives you. Planned restrictions include FMJ-only ammunition, a Tier 2 armour cap and a reduced selection of attack vehicles, although the final list is still being decided. Cash and XP earned in Limited Mode carry over to the default mode and vice versa, so you can switch between the two without losing progress.
Longer seasons and an anti-cheat crackdown
Bulkhead is also moving to three-month seasons, which gives players more time to reach their goals before each wipe and gives the team more time to prepare future updates. “Longer seasons give everyone more room to reach their own goals,” said CEO Joe Brammer, adding that protecting players who play fairly is essential to everything the studio is building.
On that front, Bulkhead is activating further layers of anti-cheat after analysing 187 million hours of gameplay with the help of machine learning. With nearly four million unique players since launch, the studio says it had enough data to bring that work forward from its original plans for next year. A ban wave has hit 185,000 accounts, and Bulkhead has also gone after exploiters, real-money trading and gold-farming networks with permanent bans and revoked server-hosting privileges. More measures, including a player trust score, are planned for 2027.
The road to 1.0
Season 3 is part of Bulkhead’s ongoing work towards Wardogs 1.0, with bigger changes to the metagame, including a new progression system, planned for 2027. Full Season 3 patch notes will arrive before launch on 12 November.
