Update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now live on PC via Steam and GOG and it brings the long-awaited Redkit modding tool, which will allow players to edit and create pretty much everything from quests, terrain, characters, animations and even cutscenes.
In the official launch trailer, which you can check out above, CD Projekt Red showcased some of the options available to modders and it's safe to say that your imagination will be the only limit.
You can basically create entire cities or take existing locations and put them somewhere else, as one modder did by placing the home of the witchers Kaer Morhen in Toussaint.
CD Projekt Red developers say that this Redkit modding tool is basically identical to the tools they used to make The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which tells you everything you need to know about the possibilities that Redkit offers.
Since modding can be a tricky process, CD Projekt Red made sure to create a bunch of tutorials and resources, which they plan to share over the next few days and weeks. The first tutorial, which reveals how to install mods can already be found on the official YouTube channel.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most popular games for mods on the popular mod hosting website NexusMods. At the time of writing this article, over 6000 The Witcher 3 mods have been downloaded 143 million times.
It's safe to say that the release of Redkit will bring new life into the game, especially if modders start creating whole new stories and places for players to discover.
