Take-Two narrowed the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 to Fall 2025 because "we are highly confident in that timing", says CEO Strauss Zelnick.

Rockstar Games' parent company Take-Two are highly confident that their mammoth title Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released in the Fall of next year. According to Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, the company understands that slips can happen but they are still confident enough to narrow the timing to the last three months of 2025.

"We narrowed the timing because we are highly confident in that timing," he said in an interview with CNBC television.

Unfortunately, Zelnick did not provide additional details on the GTA 6 release date so we still don't know if the unannounced PC version has any chance of releasing along with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version. Sorry PC gamers, but that hope seems to be fading more and more with each passing day.

Anyway, it's certainly great that Take-Two seem confident in GTA 6's release date but it's worth mentioning that Rockstar's has quite the history of delays. The developer's last two releases, Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 both got significant delays, with the former being pushed back three times.

Obviously, this does not necessarily mean that GTA 6 will also suffer the same fate but I think it's highly unlikely for such a massive project to not get at least one delay. Think about it, Grand Theft Auto 6 will probably be the biggest and most impressive game of all time. The amount of bug fixing, optimisation and polish that Rockstar needs to put into the game is certainly tremendous.

Rockstar and I agree that it's totally fine if they have to delay GTA 6

Yes, Rockstar are a massive game developer but even they need almost ten years to develop games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 6. I don't doubt this beloved studio will pull it off and make a gem that we'll play and talk about for decades so they should take all the time they need, even if that means delaying GTA 6 to 2026. I think no one will be mad about it.
