Helа: of Mice & Magic was announced today and will release on December 1, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Developed by the creative team who brought you Unravel, little has been said about their newest project until now.
Helа centers around a young mouse venturing through a fantasy land based off the geography of Northern Sweden. You play as this mouse tasked with helping a reserved witch tend to the lands she has looked over for centuries, focusing on exploration, puzzle solving, and general good deeds.
Players can explore vast lands filled with enchanted forests, serene lakes, and snow-capped mountains. Players will be given a magic backpack allowing them to interact with the world around them, collect resources, and solve puzzles.
Each object in Hela is affected by physics, allowing for realistic reactions when player’s interact with the world. The overworld serves as your playground full of objects to interact with, hidden paths to discover, and puzzles to challenge you.
While there will be puzzles throughout the game that you can solve at your own pace, there will also be an emphasis on lending a helping hand to those in need and finding purpose in small tasks.
While Hela can be played solo, there is also a multiplayer component. Local split-screen is available, as is online coop for up to four players. Even before its release, Hela has seen a lot of excitement as it recently hit over one million people adding it to their wishlist on Steam. Helа: of Mice & Magic looks to be a cute substitute for all of the heavy hitters releasing this year filled with gunplay and combat.
