Larian Studios have officially announced that they are starting development on two ambitious RPGs. The studio did not share any details about these projects and it will probably take a while before we get a proper announcement with a trailer and screenshots but it's certainly exciting to see Larian already working on something new.
The studio behind 2023's Game of the Year Baldur's Gate 3 also confirmed the opening of a new studio in Warsaw, Poland, to help out with the development of these new titles. This will be Larian's seventh studio across the globe, joining the family of teams at Ghent, Quebec, Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Guildford and Barcelona.
"With two very ambitious RPGs now starting development, what better way to see our visions realised than by growing the team and opening a 7th studio in the heart of Poland’s lively gaming scene! Welcome, Larian Studios Warsaw!," Larian said in a post on X.
In addition to the incredibly successful Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios are known for the fantastic fantasy RPG series Divinity. Their last instalment in this franchise, Divinity: Original Sin 2, was released almost seven years ago in 2017, so it's certainly time for another game in this beloved series.
Obviously, a very smart move would also be to work on another Baldur's Gate game, which would surely sell like hotcakes. But what game from Larian wouldn't?
The most exciting scenario for me would be if both Divinity and Baldur's Gate series were getting new games. Larian certainly have the capacity to make both simultaneously with so many studios and staff but such a feat would still require years and years of work so don't expect to see anything for the foreseeable future.
