The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered carries your existing saves and trophies straight into the upgrade

CD Projekt Red have confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will keep players' existing save files and unlocked achievements or trophies, so nobody needs to start over from scratch.

CD Projekt Red have confirmed that upgrading to  Remastered won't cost players their progress. Current saves will carry straight across, letting players pick up exactly where they left off on the Path, and any achievements or trophies already unlocked across all platforms stay that way too.

Why saves and trophies survive the upgrade

CD Projekt Red's PR and Communication Director Marcin Momot explained the reasoning on X, noting the remaster counts as an update to the existing game rather than a separate release, which is why save files transfer over automatically and previously earned trophies and achievements remain unlocked. It's a straightforward answer to what had clearly become one of the most common questions CD Projekt Red were fielding ahead of the remaster's release.

Platforms and release

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is coming on September 29. It's a free upgrade for players who own The Witcher 3 on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. It is also available for pre-purchase on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2.
