Following the release of Starfield: Shattered Space DLC, some Bethesda Game Studios developers have seemingly started to move to The Elder Scrolls 6. As spotted by X user Timur222, a Visual Effects Artist who worked on Starfield and Shattered Space DLC has updated his LinkedIn profile, confirming that he is now working on The Elder Scrolls 6.
This could suggest that Bethesda are finally starting to ramp up the development of their highly anticipated fantasy RPG after wrapping up the first big DLC for Starfield.
Bethesda previously said they plan to support Starfield for many, many years so it will be interesting to see how the studio juggles between these two major RPG projects.
The Elder Scrolls 6 will probably be Bethesda's priority moving forward since Shattered Space DLC wasn't received as well as the studio probably hoped it would be which could slow down Bethesda's plan for more big DLCs.
But that's just our speculation and nothing more. It's certainly possible that Bethesda are still all in on Starfield while also having hundreds of developers working on The Elder Scrolls 6.
Even though it seems that devs inside Bethesda Game Studios are slowly moving to The Elder Scrolls 6, this does not mean that the game will suddenly pop out in a year or two. We're still a long way from even seeing The Elder Scrolls 6, let alone playing it.
Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer said in the FTC trial that The Elder Scrolls 6 is "five plus" years away which would put the game's release date somewhere around 2028-2029.
It's going to be a long, long wait and talking about the game now seems a bit silly but it goes to show just how desperate Bethesda fans are for a Skyrim successor. I also feel bad for Fallout fans, who will be waiting even longer for a new mainline Fallout game, unless, Bethesda decide to give Obsidian a chance to make New Vegas 2.
