Bethesda’s Starfield is crashing and having stability problems on PlayStation 5, but players won’t have to wait too long for a fix as a hotfix is reportedly incoming later this week.
Players started reporting bugs and stability issues after launching Starfield on PS5 with recent updates. Players have run into bugs that cause frequent crashes or outright prevent them from playing the game.
These problems have been prominent when attempting to leave the Settled Systems in the starting area of the game. Save files are reportedly also being affected by some bugs.
Bethesda has now responded to the complaints, saying that it plans on releasing a hotfix patch later this week. Bethesda said: “We’ve identified several potential causes for the issues some of you have experienced on PS5 and are working diligently to verify solutions so we can deploy a hotfix later this week.”
It’s worth noting that some players haven’t experienced any of these issues and the game seems to run more smoothly on PS5 Pro. The port has also received a mostly positive reaction so far, even from people who have experienced these bugs.
Some players have also noted that while stability should be the focus of the upcoming patch, there are other bugs within the game. Players have noticed weird NPC behavior, graphical glitches, and they want more improvements down the line like better PSRR support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.
Bethesda hasn’t confirmed a day of release for the patch just yet, but players should expect to see it drop within the week.
