Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have shared another gameplay trailer for the upcoming Battlefield 6 x Top Gun collaboration. The trailer offers new insight into aerial combat coming to the game with the major update, including a look at revamped Wake Island map and two new jets players will be able to pilot, along with the update’ s new game modes.
The upcoming collaboration between Battlefield 6 and Top Gun will feature the F-74A Seacat and F/81F Super Spectre jets, giving players two new ways to take to the skies. Players can expect to see how those aircraft will fit into the large scale battles of Battlefield 6 for the first time in the new gameplay trailer.
Along with those jets, players will dive into action with Carrier Strike and Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep. Those two modes put a major emphasis on team coordination around vehicles and objectives. Top Gun soldiers will also be stepping into Battlefield 6 as part of the update.
Battlefield 6’s Top Gun Trailer Showcases New Aircraft
The newly released trailer shines a spotlight on the new aircraft players will be able to pilot as part of the collaboration. Specifically, the F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Spectre.
Both aircraft are two-seat jets, allowing two players to sit in a single aircraft and coordinate with one another while shooting down enemies. Players will be able to work together to engage enemy aircraft and provide support from the air. The new trailer provides players with a better look at how those jets will work inside of Battlefield 6’s large scale battles.
Players will be able to use those jets to shoot down enemies across Battlefield 6’s large-scale combat, though they should feel especially at home on Wake Island.
Wake Island Gets Ready for Take-Off
The Wake Island players know from previous Battlefield games is getting a massive overhaul with the Top Gun update. The map is being redesigned with a focus around naval combat, specifically around aircraft carriers that will act as each team’s base of operations.
Those aircraft carriers will open up even more avenues for combat on Wake Island. Players will have a choice between taking down enemies in the air, on land, and at sea. Both teams’ aircraft carriers will act as major objectives during gameplay in Carrier Strike.
Two New Air Combat Modes
Player fans of cockpit combat will have a lot to enjoy in the two new modes coming to Battlefield 6 as part of the Top Gun update. Called Carrier Strike and Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, those two modes put an emphasis on air combat and team coordination.
Carrier Strike
In Carrier Strike, both teams will battle against one another to take down the opposing teams aircraft carrier. Throughout the battle, players will fight to control sectors across Wake Island, allowing teams to bring new vehicles into the fray and find angles to attack the enemy carrier.
Once a team starts attacking an enemy carrier, players can expect to go indoors for a final fight aboard the aircraft carrier.
Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep
Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep is a brand new mission coming to REDSEC. As players would expect from any Gauntlet mission, Fighter Sweep tasks players with destroying several objectives while their teammates provide support.
Fighter Sweep specifically focuses on destroying enemy jets and stockpiles littered across the map. While some teammates destroy stockpiles, others will have the chance to shoot down enemy jets in intense dogfights.
Top Gun Characters Join Battlefield 6
Fans of the iconic films will be happy to know they can play as several recognizable faces from the franchise. Three total characters are coming to Battlefield 6 as part of the collaboration.
Players will be able to play as:
- Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (portrayed by Miles Teller)
- Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd (portrayed by Lewis Pullman)
- Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates (portrayed by Charles Parnell)
Each of these characters is a direct reference to people players can find in the Top Gun films. With new aircraft and modes focused around aerial combat, it looks like Battlefield 6 is trying to recapture the magic of the films’ high octane action.
Battlefield 6 Top Gun Update Release Date
Players won’t have to wait too much longer for the Top Gun collaboration to arrive. It is scheduled to be released on August 18 alongside a major Battlefield 6 update. While we know the two jets coming to the game, players can expect a lot more with the new content.
The update will also include the revamped Wake Island map and new game modes mentioned throughout the article. Hopefully, the new trailer gives players even more excitement for the new aircraft and content coming to Battlefield 6 in just over a month.
