Archetype Entertainment, the studio formed by former Bioware developers, have shared another short cinematic trailer for their upcoming title called Exodus. The trailer is just over a minute long and features new concept art that we haven't seen before, introducing us to cybernetically enhanced grizzly bears.
It's a pretty dark trailer with themes of animal abuse and the official description even states that it's a look into the dark side of Exodus, in the true spirit of the spooky month of October and Halloween. Check it out below.
Trailer description: The Awakened have a long history of contributions to our world but how familiar are you with the origin of your awakened neighbors? Take the Awakened Bears…a noble beginning but where has it led? In the spirit of Halloween, continue your journey into the darker side of EXODUS.
In the trailer, Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey, who narrates almost every Exodus trailer, talks us through The Awakened, a race with "long a proud history of contributions to our homeworld".
But that's when the trailer takes a dark turn with shots of The Awakened Bears (more precisely their ancestors) in test tubes and cybernetically enhanced to provide medical care to early human colonies who lived in the most remote locations in the cluster.
Fast forward to Exodus' present day and the bears are being used in wars and as weapons --- "From live-saving medic to deadly soldier, do we call that progress?" asks McConaughey.
I'm not gonna lie, this particular trailer gave me chills, making me even more excited to see Exodus gameplay, worlds and characters. It's dark and gives a sense of unease in a way, which is probably what the devs aimed at.
