Reports have surfaced recently reigniting speculation over a potential PlayStation 5 release for Starfield. Rumours have persisted for some time now that Bethesda’s RPG would eventually release on Sony’s platform, but a new date has come to light which suggests it could arrive much sooner than anticipated.
Anonymous sources familiar with internal distributor information have revealed that the PS5 version of Starfield is allegedly slated for a April 2026 release.
While the outlet notes that there is no confirmation on the specifics of the date, it lends credence to rumours that Bethesda is preparing a multi-platform enhancement for the title. Should the report prove true, it could line up with a major patch that fundamentally changes Starfield.
Report Claims April 2026 PS5 Release
The leak comes from outlet PPE who claims they’ve seen internal documents belonging to a video game distributor. Their report says that Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5 on 7 April 2026.
PPE has leaked truthful release information for physical games launches in the past, but they haven’t always been right. PPE also allegedly uploaded a screenshot of this information on an internal website which showed the April release date.
Possible Link to the ‘Starfield 2.0’ Update
While not confirmed by the report, it’s suspected that the PS5 launch will coincide with what’s been known for months Starfield 2.0. This massive update was even previewed privately for select press members months ago.
Word has it that the update could include:
- Large scale gameplay/systems overhaul
- Significant updates to current mechanics
- Second “big” expansion, called Terran Armada
Were they bundled like this, the PS5 edition would be the definitive version of Starfield.
