New Kingdom Come game is coming by April 2028, Embracer confirms
A new Kingdom come game is expected to launch by mid 2028 according to Embracer

Key Points from the Article

  • Embracer Group expects the next Kingdom Come game to release during fiscal year 2027/28 (April 2027 - March 2028)
  • This is a corporate planning window, not a confirmed release date, and delays are possible as the game is still deep in development
  • The third Kingdom Come game has not been properly unveiled yet, and its title is unknown
  • A three-year gap between KCD 2 and 3 is plausible since Warhorse can leverage existing engine, tools and assets
A new Kingdom come game is expected to launch by mid 2028 according to Embracer

During their latest financial report, Embracer Group have confirmed the next Kingdom Come game from Warhorse Studios is expected to launch during fiscal year 2027/28.

Embracer Group have given a rough timeframe for the next Kingdom Come game from Warhorse Studios, confirming it's expected to arrive during fiscal year 2027/28 in a recent investor presentation (at 16:00).

From FY 27, we expect the release of the next game in the Kingdom Come franchise from Warhorse Studios. -  Embracer CEO Phil Rogers.

What exactly does this mean in simpler, non-business terms? Well, Embracer's FY 2027/28 covers April 2027 through to March 2028, meaning the next Kingdom Come game is being targeted for sometime between those dates, likely landing before the fiscal year closes if everything goes according to plan.

It's certainly worth mentioning that both Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 released in the month of February.

But, what's really worth stressing here is that this is a corporate financial planning window rather than a firm release date, and there's no confirmation yet of where in that stretch the game will actually launch.

Additionally, with a project this far out and presumably still deep in development, it's worth being upfront that internal delays are always possible. Games shift out of fiscal year windows regularly, sometimes by months, sometimes by years.

Three years between KCD 2 and KCD 3

On paper, a new mainline entry roughly three years after Kingdom Come Deliverance II might sound a bit quick for an RPG of such a massive scale, but it fits a pattern that's become increasingly common in the games industry.

Studios spend six or seven years building and refining an engine, tools and reusable assets on one major project, then lean on that foundation to turn around subsequent games in three to four year cycles instead of starting from scratch each time.

Warhorse have already done this, putting seven years into KCD2's tech and asset base, so a follow-up landing this side of 2028 is certainly plausible.
