Bethesda's highly-anticipated fantasy RPG The Elder Scrolls 6 is nowhere to be seen almost seven years since that first announcement trailer but it looks like Starfield developers are gearing up to show us something new soon.
According to the latest leak from Xbox insider extas1s, Bethesda could show The Elder Scrolls 6 in July 2025, at the Xbox Games Showcase. I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet because it would probably be a short trailer, akin to this Starfield teaser trailer, which gave us only a glimpse of the in-engine footage.
But even if Bethesda doesn't show us the game this summer, there's plenty of reason to be excited for this massive fantasy RPG, if the details in this leak are legit.
According to the insider, Bethesda aims to get rid of loading times in The Elder Scrolls 6 or at least reduce them to a minimum. Just like fans speculated before, the game is set in Hammerfell and High Rock, two very distinct regions with jungles, forests, mountains and deserts.
Players will be able to explore islands off the coast while there's also a significant underwater exploration segment. A perfectly diverse video game map, I'd say.
In addition, Bethesda is looking to expand on its building systems, allowing players to build ships, fortresses and even whole villages. Sounds pretty crazy but not unrealistically crazy like the info that we're also getting 12-13 big cities. But I guess it all depends on how big these actually are - Starfield had four sizeable ones so it's safe to say that The Elder Scrolls 6 would be a major upgrade.
Naval battles are a big thing apparently and dragons will make a big return but I doubt this one will be heavily themed around dragons and dragon powers like Skyrim, which was released fourteen years ago. What!?
And that's pretty much it. Since none of this is official info, I suggest you take it with a grain of salt until Bethesda steps forward and shares the deets themselves. Hopefully, that happens this year since I could really do with another first-person fantasy RPG after having a lot of fun with Obsidian's Avowed.
