Total War: Warhammer 3’s Lords of the End Times DLC launches September 24 with four Legendary Lords, new units, mechanics and a major free update.

SEGA and Creative Assembly announced Lords of the End Times, a new expansion pack for Total War: Warhammer 3. Scheduled for release on September 24, the DLC reportedly marks the largest expansion in the series’ decade-long lifespan.

Lords of the End Times will introduce four new Legendary Lords playable in Total War: Warhammer III’s Immortal Empires campaign. Nagash, Boris Todbringer, the Glottkin and Thanquol will each provide players with a new army and way of playing.

Creative Assembly promises each new Lord will offer a unique strategic experience based around their identity and background in the Warhammer franchise. Playable armies will receive new units, heroes, and gameplay mechanics inspired by the apocalypse known as the End Times in Warhammer Fantasy lore. Some notable new units include Khemric Titans, Verminlords, Putrid Blight Kings, and a Celestial Hurricanum.

Interestingly, purchasing Lords of the End Times will grant access to Immortal Empires mode for those who don’t currently own it. Players will not be required to own a prior game in the Total War: Warhammer series to access the DLC’s content.

That standalone purchase can be made through the game’s bundle or by buying Lords of the End Times separately. The move will likely make it much easier for newcomers to pick up and play Immortal Empires without needing to buy a previous entry.

Free Update Added Neferata as Legendary Lord

Players who aren’t interested in buying the expansion will still receive some new content. A major free update is launching alongside Lords of the End Times which players can download without purchasing the DLC.

Neferata, the Witch-Cult of Hel anthology’s Scarlet Lord, will become a Legendary Lord in her own right. Players will be able to play as Neferata and the Vampire Counts as part of this update, which will thoroughly overhaul the faction.

Archaon the Everchosen is receiving a similar treatment, introducing a series of new End Game Scenarios:

  • Chaos Invasion
  • Vermintide
  • Nagash Rises

Every legacy Legendary Lord will receive updated victory conditions as part of the update. These are in addition to various other changes and features being introduced

Total War: Warhammer III – Lords of the End Times is shaping up to be one of the most significant additions to the game since launch. Lords of the End Times features an incredible amount of content, even for players who don’t purchase the expansion.
