Reviews for Dragon Age: The Veilguard are out and most of them are positive, praising the game's combat and visual style but criticising the light player choice elements.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches in just a couple of days and today we got the first reviews for Bioware's long awaited action RPG. The good news for all Dragon Age fans is that the reviews seem to be mostly positive with several 10 out of 10 scores.

There are a few criticisms too, so it's not the perfect Dragon Age game you've been waiting for but still, the best work from Bioware since Mass Effect 3.

Let's start with some positives first, IGN says that "Dragon Age: The Veilguard refreshes and reinvigorates a storied series that stumbled through its middle years" giving the game a 9/10 score, while Press Start gave the game a perfect 10/10, stating that " Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a triumph for BioWare in practically every way".

The outlets that didn't really like the game are plentiful too, with scores low as 6 out of 10 or 3/5. The Guardian state that "There is lots to do in this huge and beautiful fantasy world, but inconsistent writing and muted combat dull its blade" while VGC state that Bioware could perhaps be a bit braver with Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay which feels to out of date.

"Dragon Age: The Veilguard feels like BioWare playing it too safe. While it nails what it does best, like the excellent cast and interpersonal relationships, from a gameplay perspective it feels out of date."

At the moment, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has a high Metascore of 84 out of 100

At the time of writing, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has a Metascore of 83, while on Open Critic, it's at 84, with 83% of critics recommending the game. It's certainly not the best result ever but it's not bad either.

It is interesting to see the discrepancy between reviews with plenty of 10/10s but also 6/10s. I guess players will be the ones to decide if Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a great game or not.
