Regardless of your playing style, at some point, you'll have to at least try stealth in The Outer Worlds 2, the newest RPG shooter from Obsidian Entertainment; more accurately, it will even happen as the tutorial segment, provided you choose one of the paths that require sneaking around rather than a mindless gun-blazing scenario.
Like in all other games, especially RPGs, stealth is an option, but in The Outer Worlds 2, once the game tries to teach you stealth, one very important segment is not mentioned, and it can get really frustrating; at least, it was for us – the game does tell you how to do it but fails to explain a single thing about it.
If this mechanic is confusing to you too, fret not; we've managed to get the hang of it, and in this guide, we will teach you how to do the stealth properly in The Outer Worlds 2, so without further ado, let's begin.
How to do stealth in The Outer Worlds 2
During the tutorial, you'll get to the point where you can choose which way to take to proceed with the mission: the left path, where you must sneak around and learn the stealth basics, and the right path, where you can go loud and kill everything that moves. Of course, this won't be the only place where the game teaches you stealth, but this is the first one, indeed.
Here, you'll get the knife, and you'll be prompted to kill the next dude that says something to himself, luckily, with his back turned in your direction. Now, what the game fails to tell you is how to choose this knife and how to use it in the action.
To do it, you'll have to open the inventory and select Sentry Blade from it and add it to one of your weapon slots to the left. At this stage, you'll have only two slots available. After doing that, hold the Y button (Xbox controller) to pop up the weapon wheel, choose the knife, and press A to select it.
Now, simply approach the enemy, and the sneak attack button (Y) will appear. Press it and let the magic happen. After disposing of the first enemies, the game will teach you how to use luring devices a little further in the game, but this mechanic is explained well and shouldn't pose any problems to understand.
