'Good preparation is half the job done already,' goes the old saying, so today, we will try to give you a couple of pieces of advice on how to prepare for the newly released Ninja Gaiden 4, a game developed by Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, a game that will, without doubt, win many hearts of old fans and new players alike.
For die-hard fans of the series, the expectations for the game are already very high, yet the amount of fun and quality Ninja Gaiden 4 brings is probably something even the most optimistic among them didn't expect; seriously, Ninja Gaiden 4 might be the best game in the series yet.
However, knowing what to expect and how to approach this game, and any other game alike, of course, is crucial to getting the most out of it, especially at the very beginning. So in this guide, we will bring you several tips on how to approach the game and what to do to get the most out of it, so without further ado, let's jump into it.
Ninja Gaiden 4 - Beginners' Tips and Tricks
Use the NinjaCoins on learning new moves
In Ninja Gaiden 4, NinjaCoins are currency gained mostly by doing side missions, although the enemies, chests, and many other places can and will contain these coins within them. They are used to replenish items at shops but also to buy new moves and combat skills at Tyran. Especially at the beginning of the game, it is crucial to spend money on the new moves because you'll be able to find items while exploring anyway, and buying them would be a waste of money.
Buy items only before boss arenas to maximise your chances of winning the fight; in all other cases, use the money to buy new moves and combat techniques.
Train to hone your skills
Yes, the training is important in real life too, but in this game, if you want to feel the combat and be good at it, once you buy a new move or technique, do not skip the chance to learn how to apply it on the field. I'm saying this because Ninja Gaiden 4 is an extremely fast game, and if you want to get the most out of the combat, button mashing will get you only so far, but to become a real ninja master, you'll need to learn the combat and know exactly which buttons to press and in which order to execute a move perfectly.
If the game becomes too difficult, lower the difficulty
This might seem like an obvious one, but it is actually very sound advice. Ninja Gaiden is a very difficult game. I was playing it on normal difficulty, and I was struggling a lot. For the sake of testing the game fully, I tried playing on hero (easy) difficulty as well, and I must say, it was a real breath of fresh air. Of course, do not turn on auto-parry and auto-block; it will deprive you of any joy, but the enemies on easy are still very tough and will give you a bit of a challenge.
Normal difficulty is still the best option, if you ask me, but it is still up to you how good at such games you are and how much of a challenge is to your preference. In any case, Ninja Gaiden 4 is a very hard game, and no one will think less of you if you enjoy the game while being overpowered.
Try all the weapons
You'll have four different weapons at your disposal in Ninja Gaiden 4, and each and every one is a true work of art. If you prefer playing the game using only one weapon, it's okay; the game won't force you to use different ones for the different sorts of enemies, but switching between weapons is so much fun that you shouldn't miss out on that under any circumstances.
Each weapon has different animations for regular and special attacks, different animations for finishers, and different impacts; in short, every weapon feels different in your hands, and it would be a true shame not to try out everything this game's segment has to offer.
Do not sleep on purgatories
Purgatories are special places found in each level where you can fight several waves of enemies to gain money and XP for upgrading weapon skills. Although Ninja Gaiden 4 is a very linear game, there are several nooks you can explore, and some of those nooks will lead you to a shiny torii gate, and if you interact with it, you'll be able to tackle a purgatory challenge.
The challenge can be made more difficult if you prefer that way. You can strip a portion of your health for better rewards, but the enemies will remain the same. You'll fight several waves of enemies that become tougher with each wave, and if you survive, you'll win the reward. If you die, you will be able to repeat the challenge for as long as you see fit. Once you beat the purgatory, however, you won't be able to replay it, so choose wisely which level of challenge you want to tackle.
And that's it; these are several tips that will make your ninja life in Ninja Gaiden 4 a bit easier. If you found this guide useful, be sure to check out our other guides linked below.
