The disturbance equation in The Outer Worlds 2 is the last puzzle you'll have to solve to reach the very end game area. In this guide, we will show you how to solve it.

Even though the gameplay in The Outer Worlds 2 doesn't rely heavily upon puzzles, or, to be honest, perhaps not at all, This action RPG shooter from Obsidian will give you one for the end of the game you'll remember.

Once you reach Horizon Point for the second time in the game, and just before boarding the final ship, the game will stop you with some kind of rift disturbance, and you won't be able to get past it until you find a special equation to enter inside the terminal.

Since you're here, solving this puzzle is probably giving you a headache, but fear not; we found the solution, and we are willing to share it with you, so if you want to know how to find the equation in question, stick with us.

How to find the equation in Horizon Point

Once you reach the rift disturbance, you'll be able to open the door to enter it, but if you don't want to die instantly and reload your last save, don't do that. Go on and read everything that you can on the terminal next to the rift disturbance entrance

You'll notice that one of the entries is to enter a special equation, but since you don't know it, you'll have to look around and find it.

The easiest way to locate the equation is to turn 180 degrees as you stand in front of the terminal and climb a broken contraption; this will take you to the second floor of this area. Once you're there, go to the right and then look to the left; you'll see some mathematic formulae written on a whiteboard there.

If you interact with it, you'll be given the option to examine it further, but only if your background is professor. If it is, that's it; you've solved the equation. However, since this is highly unlikely, you'll have to do more legwork to solve this puzzle.

Turn around and notice a small table just next to the whiteboard. Jump on it, then double-jump on a floating platform above it, and then on the next one. On top of the next platform is an equation piece. Take it and return to the whiteboard.

Interact with the whiteboard again, insert the missing piece, and then the option to solve the equation will appear. Press it and return to the terminal. Input the equation inside the terminal, and the classic rift will appear.

Use the Rift Modulator to destabilise the rift and make your way over the newly formed path, and that's it; the disturbance equation puzzle is solved. If you've found this guide useful, check out more of our The Outer Worlds 2 guides below.
