Switching weapons in The Outer Worlds 2, the latest action RPG shooter from Obsidian, is as straightforward as pressing a single button. However, you'll only be able to put two weapons inside your quick slots, while the other two will be locked, and the game won't tell you a thing on how to unlock them; that, you'll have to figure out on your own.
Luckily, we already found a way to do that, so if you don't feel like being bothered discovering this game's feature on your own, we've prepared a guide that will explain to you how to have four weapons in your quick slots instead of starting two.
How to unlock the first weapon slot
The first slot can be unlocked as soon as you enter the first open area of the game, Paradise Island. Once you touch down on this planet, make your way to the first big settlement, Fairfield, and look for the merchant there. Once you speak with the merchant, you'll be able to buy a helmet mode called Extra Holster.
If you don't have the money or don't feel like paying for this mode, simply open the door located next to the merchant and look to the shelf on the left inside that room; the mode will be located there for you to pick it up. Make sure you're not watched to avoid being caught stealing. If you want, you can close the door behind you, and you'll be okay.
Now, go to the closest bench - there is one, actually, just outside the merchant's house - and install the mod to any helmet or headgear you own. Equip that headgear, and the first additional slot will unlock.
How to unlock the second weapon slot
The second unlockable weapon slot is tied to a perk called Commando. To unlock this perk, you'll have to gain at least one skill point and one perk point and spend them in certain categories.
First, you must invest at least one point in the "guns" skill or in the "melee" skill, whichever you prefer, and once one of those skills is level one, you'll have to switch to perks, look for the Commando perk, and unlock it.
Once the Commando perk is unlocked, the second weapon slot will unlock automatically. Now, you'll be able to put four different weapons inside quick slots and choose them any time simply by switching between them or by opening the weapon wheel and choosing the one you want.
