While the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct certainly met the expectations of excited Xbox and PC fans, some of Microsoft's biggest gaming franchises skipped the event.
Halo and Gears fans expected that there would be something for them at the event but to their disappointment, Spencer and the team decided to reveal other first-party projects.
However, in the most recent interview with the Japanese gaming website Famitsu, Spencer reassured fans of these iconic series that there will be more Xbox shows in the near future, where something related to these games could be revealed and potentially something regarding id Software.
Spencer said that Xbox could not show everything at the last week's show, namedropping Doom developer id Software as well as Halo and Gears as some of the projects that have been missing from the showcase. Here's his exact quote:
"We couldn't show you what id Software is developing, not just Halo and Gears, and we have a lot of studio updates, so we'll be rolling out more shows in the future," Spencer said in the interview.
While it's too early to talk about the next Halo game, especially after the restructuring at 343 Industries, the next Gears of War game could indeed be revealed very soon as well as id Sofware's project.
We know that The Coalition have been working on their next game for a while now and that game is probably Gears 6, which should be coming in a couple of years, probably 2025-2026.
As for id, there have been some very vague rumours that the Doom team is working on a Quake Reboot but take that with a huge grain of salt.
