Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance gives the Sword and Shield new Boosted Actions, weapon oils and improved mobility through the Boost Bracer.

Capcom has showcased another weapon that players will find in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, this time highlighting the Sword and Shield. The weapon traditionally balances offensive and defensive playstyles, though players will soon have more options to customize how they fight with it via the Boost Bracer.

The newest trailer details some of the weapon’s Boosted Actions players can use in fights. Along with increased mobility and extra attacks, players will be able to use weapon oils, a feature familiar to longtime fans of the series.

New Attacks and Mobility

Thanks to the Boost Driver, Sword and Shield users can quickly close the gap with a monster. Players can also dash into a spinning move called the Falling Bash, giving them another method to get in range and chain attacks together.

Boosted combos have also been added to the weapon, allowing players to string together several more hits. Perfect Rush attacks appear to do significantly more damage after receiving a boost upgrade shown in the trailer.

Players will also unlock Bladecoating Slash, which returns weapon oils to Monster Hunter. Hunters can apply a variety of items to their Sword and Shield to give them unique properties. One example featured in the trailer coats the weapon in green, letting players regain their health with each successful hit.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance releases in 2027. So far, Capcom has gone in-depth on how the Boost Bracer will change the Spear, Long Sword, Bow, Great Sword, Charge Blade, Dual Blades, Hammer, and Light Bowgun.

More weapons should be showcased in the coming months, leading up to the expansion’s release.
