The move by Microsoft marks a significant purchase in the gaming industry, and just like that, Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Series S lineup ahead of a new launch in November just got bigger!

BOOM! Or, should we say.. DOOM!

Just like that, Microsoft shook the gaming world with what seems to be one of the biggest news in the gaming industry since... well, since, forever!

Critically acclaimed creators of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dishonored, Quake, Starfield and more blockbuster titles are joining Team Xbox!

Microsoft revealed that they are purchasing ZeniMax Media, the parent company of the large game publisher Bethesda Softworks, the minds behind Skyrim, as well as id Software, the makers of DOOM, Quake, RAGE, and more.

Today is a special day, as we welcome some of the most accomplished studios in the games industry to Xbox. We are thrilled to announce Microsoft has entered into an agreement to acquire ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks.

A day before the pre-orders for the next-generation Xbox consoles take off, Microsoft does this. The deal is worth $7.5 billion USD. It includes all publishing & development studios. Will close in the 2nd half of fiscal 2021 year. Absolutely massive pickup for Xbox.

This news brings joy to all Game Pass subscribers, as they will be getting every upcoming Bethesda game for free - day one.

Just as they took the bold first steps to bring The Elder Scrolls franchise to the original Xbox, Bethesda were early supporters of Xbox Game Pass, bringing their games to new audiences across devices and have been actively investing in new gaming technology like cloud streaming of games. We will be adding Bethesda’s iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass for console and PC.

One of the things that has me most excited is seeing the roadmap with Bethesda’s future games, some announced and many unannounced, to Xbox console and PC including Starfield, the highly anticipated, new space epic currently in development by Bethesda Game Studios.

The next-gen just got a whole lot of interesting!
