Remedy Entertainment has just released a new Alan Wake 2 update, bringing with it a load of changes and new options, especially for PS5 Pro users. The headline introduction is a new Balanced mode for 120Hz displays. This new mode ties the knot with the resolution of Performance mode with the visual quality of the PS5 Pro Quality mode for a smooth 40 FPS gameplay experience.
The update tweaks Performance mode settings for a more consistent frame rate, and also changes how ray tracing works in both Quality and Balanced modes to cut down on image noise.
Moreover, one of the bigger features is the option to turn off PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). That's a setting added after some performance concerns emerged. Similar options to toggle PSSR have recently been added to other games, such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and are becoming more common.
