Saber Interactive, the studio that delivered one of the best games of 2024 in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, have announced their next big thing and believe it or not, it's Turok. Yes, we're actually getting a brand new Turok game called Turok: Origins.
And while that's certainly exciting news for all Turok fans, including yours truly, the game isn't really what I expected it would be. Turok: Origins is a third-person three-player co-op experience with a bit of a generic and colourful sci-fi look, reminding me more of The Outer Worlds 2 environments than something you'd find in Turok.
But I don't have any doubts that Saber Interactive will do their best to deliver a fantastic video game with Turok: Origins so I'm definitely eager to see more of this one, even though the concept and the art style are not doing it for me.
In terms of gameplay, Turok: Origins can be played solo or in co-op and it features both melee and shooting mechanics, similar to Space Marine 2. Players will be able to use the DNA from the dinosaur creatures to upgrade their gear, skills and abilities.
The devs also promise a wide variety of breathtaking locations that players will travel to including ancient temples, wasteland canyons and dense jungles to name a few. There's also a big "save-the-world" story so it's not all about shooting and looting as one might think when looking at that trailer.
Saber say they are honoured to be working on the Turok franchise, which was always on top of their list for a big revival. I'm glad the studio have the chance to work on it and hopefully, when Turok: Origins launches, I'll be in awe of it, just like I was with Space Marine 2.
Turok: Origins will be coming sometime in 2025 to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. You can wishlist the game here.
