Alan Wake 2 is quite a demanding video game on PC due to its path-tracing implementation and incredible level of detail which makes the game quite the visual spectacle.
Obviously, such incredible graphical fidelity requires plenty of GPU power, which is why Alan Wake 2 had very high PC system requirements when it launched a while back.
You needed Nvidia's big RTX 4080 on the GPU side to experience the visuals in all their glory while RTX 2060 was the minimum GPU that could run the game at low settings at 1080p / 30 FPS.
Luckily, thanks to some recent performance improvements, Remedy have managed to squeeze out more performance from Alan Wake 2 and lower the entry GPU for minimum settings.
"We've been optimizing the PC version of Alan Wake 2, and as a result the minimum PC system requirements have been lowered," Remedy announced.
Now, you will be able to run Alan Wake 2 with GTX 1070 or Radeon RX 5600 XT, which is certainly a nice little performance boost for the low-end hardware.
Alan Wake 2 lowered PC specs
The higher tier remains intact and you will still need top-of-the-line GPUs and CPUs to enjoy the game in high resolutions, ultra settings and smooth frame rates.
All in all, this is certainly a great update that many players with similar hardware will appreciate. Alan Wake 2 was our personal game of the year in 2023 so seeing Remedy working hard to make the game available to more players only makes this an even easier recommendation to all players, regardless of their genre preference.
Alan Wake 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
