October 2023 is absolutely packed for video games and for that reason, Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment decided to push the release of their survival horror from October 17 to October 27.
Alan Wake 2 initial release date was too close to games like Lords of the Fallen, Spider-Man 2 and Assassin's Creed Mirage, so Remedy felt they would really benefit by releasing their game a big later in the month.
The new release date is not ideal, though, as it's just two days after another highly-anticipated horror Alone in the Dark. However, it's certainly a much better release window than the first or mid-part of the month.
In the official update, Remedy didn't say they are pushing the release so they have less competition, instead, they stated that October is an amazing month for games and that everyone should have more time to play their favourite games.
"An update from the Alan Wake 2 team: we're moving Alan Wake 2's launch from October 17 to October 27. October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favourite games," Remedy wrote on X.
All in all, we hope that the new release date helps Alan Wake 2 attract more players, as the game looks pretty amazing and we cannot wait to finally dive into this eerie world.
Alan Wake 2 is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
