Alan Wake writer Sam Lake reveals his dream game

Sam Lake says there are other stories he would love to tell, including a huge-budget dark gothic fantasy game that he hasn't used yet.

One of the most talented writers in the video game industry, Sam Lake, still has plenty of stories to tell through video games and in the most recent interview, he teased one of the projects that is currently sitting in his shelf.

When asked by GQ Magazine if there is anything else that he would love to do, Alan Wake 2 writer replied that he will not retire anytime soon and that there are stories he would love to tell:

"Would I ever do anything else?’ Yeah. I'm still thinking that I will. There will be a time when I retire. It's just that… this has all been so engaging," Lake replied. "One was this crazy, huge budget, dark gothic fantasy, which I haven’t used for anything yet..."

Being a dark gothic fantasy title, it would be interesting to see how such game would fit into the Remedy universe that connects the studios' titles like Alan Wake and Control

Perhaps this potential fantasy title would serve as a perfect prequel, focusing on the origins of the supernatural forces and the when this mysterious presence first started to appear on earth.

We don't know about you, but we are definieklty rooting for such project and fingers crossed that Remedy find an ideal partner that would provide funding and publishing support to the studio.

Remedy
Alan Wake 2 key art
The writing and narrative in Alan Wake 2 is world class and we would certainly love to see Same Lake create more

We certainly would not be surprised if they teamed up with Epic Games again, as the partnership for Alan Wake 2 worked like a charm, according to many Remedy developers, who recently posted on X that Epic were nothing but supportive during the development of this horror title.

All in all, hopefully, we'll hear more about Remedy's future single-player projects in the near future, including the confirmation that Sam Lake is indeed working on an exciting dark fantasy story.
