Transmog has already been present for a while in New World before the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion arrived but it may still be a bit confusing to the returning players.
First, there is the question of where you even begin with it. The answer is any major town in the game. They all have the "Stylemancer" NPCs, marked with a swirly icon on the map and above their heads.
Simply walk over and start talking to them. There is a brief introduction to the system through the dialogue with the NPC but you can enter the transmog menu by choosing the "Transmogrify my gear" dialogue option.
Once there, you will see all the times that you have unlocked for transmog. Any item that you looted or had in the inventory after the system's introduction will be unlocked in the library but you will still need to turn them into skins.
This is done by paying with one transmog token per item.
You can obtain transmog tokens from:
- Season pass reward track
- Elite chests at one per cent drop chance, limited to one per week
- In-game store, at the cost of ~$2 to ~$2.5, depending on the bundle you purchase
As you can see, the tokens are quite rare and hard to obtain unless you start paying for the premium currency, which sullies the system in more ways than one.
Destiny 2 had a similarly restrictive transmog system initially so now it only remains to be seen whether the players will revolt enough to get the devs to ease up a bit.
