Blizzard Entertainment have released the first episode of World Of Warcraft: Planet Azeroth, a comedic nature documentary starring comedian Bill Bailey. It’s made to mark the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever, and it treats Azeroth like a real wildlife reserve.
Bailey appears as a dwarf adventurer, and his voice and likeness will also feature in the game as an in-game character. Across three episodes, he’ll guide viewers through iconic regions, from Elwynn Forest to the frozen wilderness of Winterspring. Blizzard describe it as a “documentary-gone-rogue”, and the first episode backs that up. Bailey opens with a quick apology for pointing out his own “massive arms”, and it’s all downhill from there.
The wildlife gets roasted
Episode one tours Elwynn Forest, and nothing is safe. The timber wolf, “the first great predator many an adventurer will ever face”, gets a “sophisticated two move strategy” of lunging, stepping back and repeating. Bailey says that’s all it’s got. The boar’s relationship with adventurers is called “complex”, given how many of them have been killed.
Murlocs are described as so aggressive that simply being near them “precipitates an act of war”, while kobolds are an obsession with candles taken to a ridiculous extreme. Over in Durotar, orc peons are determined to sleep in, and Bailey points out the Horde still hasn’t got an HR department. He even calls The Barrens chat “the WhatsApp group from hell”, which is the most accurate thing anyone has said about it. The episode ends on a pun that you can see coming from a mile off, but it works.

Episode one is out now on the World of Warcraft YouTube channel. Episode two arrives on October 31, and episode three follows on November 1.
