New World: Rise of the Angry Earth has its ups and downs but Amazon Game Studios managed to regale the players who stumble upon an adorable canine in the new area.
Namely, you can pet a good doggo in one of the zones but unfortunately, it is easily missed since a nearby quest makes you focus on the elephant in the room instead.
I'm not even kidding, it sends you to talk to the elephant that is fairly close to the dog.
In any case, the dog and the elephant are located in a cave southeast of the Old First Light or directly west of Dredged Landing.
The cave's entrance isn't really hidden and several quests will lead you to this area. One quest starts in the cave itself so you can expect the map marker to lead you directly inside.
However, the quest giver is the aforementioned elephant so make sure you look around the room before leaving on your adventure and the dog should be easy to spot.
Instead of just giving the dog a rub or two, the interaction in New World seems to be indefinite so just start petting and it will go on until you move.
