EA Sports FC 27's first major gameplay balance update arrives in November, targeting fullback positioning, attacking AI, offside awareness, kick-off goals and player switching.

EA Sports have released information about what will be included in their first gameplay update for EA Sports FC 27. Changes are expected to come with a title update in November. These gameplay changes are meant to fix some of the issues people have ran into since the game launched.

In the October gameplay developer notes EA Sports stated that over the course of the first month they analysed match data and took input from players as well as members of the Design Council.

After gathering all of this information they came up with areas they want to improve on. EA decided not to make any gameplay updates in the early days of FC 27 this time around. They wanted to allow players to learn the new gameplay.

FC 27 Players Are Learning the Gameplay

Based on match data from the first month of EA Sports FC 27 EA Sports have noticed that players are improving on many aspects of the game.

Firstly players are shooting less and converting more. This means that players are becoming better at finishing in front of goal. Players are also passing the ball more effectively. There have been less passes but a higher percentage of completed passes. EA Sports believe this is due to players being more cautious with there passes and them changing the passing/interception balance.

There have also been an increase in successful tackles as players learn to defend better.

Players are using a wider variety of tactics than in FC 26. Different formations and player positions are being experimented with and people will continue to discover more ways to counter popular tactics. EA states that formation win rates have stayed similar but are keeping an eye on which formations people use in higher divisions.

Fixes to Fullbacks Dropping Too Far Back

A big change that EA wants to implement with the next title update is players staying on their line when defending. They have found that fullbacks will drop back too far and break the defensive line which allows players to stay onside at times.

They want fullbacks to stay on their defensive line and only push up when an attacker is heading towards them. They are also going to adjust attacking players knowledge of where the offside line is. This should allow attacking players to get into better positions.

Changes to Attacking AI and Scoring on Kick-Offs

There will be some more tweaks to attacking AI. EA have noticed that at times players won't run into open space when they should. They hope these changes will encourage AI players to support the ball carrier more.

Another issue that they are trying to fix is players defending after a kick off. There are times when your defensive line drops back to far and the opponent is able to carry the ball to your goal with no resistance. EA wants your defensive line to stay higher when a kick off occurs so players aren't able to walk into your box.

Changing How You Switch Players

Some changes are coming to player switching. When a ball is loose EA sometimes switches you to the wrong player. There are some situations they are looking to change this in such as when a teammate does a slide tackle. When you head the ball to a teammate and after missing a shot.

Title Update for FC 27 Coming in November 2026

These changes should all be implemented in title update v1.2.0 which is expected to be released sometime in November 2026. More details on exactly when these changes will come are yet to be announced.

EA has stated that they are hoping to fix some frustrating scenarios in the game with these updates. Due to the nature of football there will be some scenarios that may not get fixed.
