Are you smitten by the evil Paladin in Baldur's Gate 3? Here is how you can get in her good graces.
Some of the companions in Baldur's Gate 3 can't be recruited until Act 2 or even 3, with Minthara being one such case.
That said, the process of recruiting her begins during the opening Act so make sure you check out all the bulletins below in order not to miss out on details that could cost you a companion.
How to recruit Minthara
The recruitment of Minthara unfolds over the first two Acts of the game and generally relies on you doing an evil playthrough since you will have to commit a war crime to get her on board.
Act 1
- Go to the goblin camp in the western part of the map
- Use your Illithid domination and other speech checks to get past without fighting
- Find Minthara - she is in the back of the temple, close to the eye that roams the halls
- Do not reveal that you have the artefact that Shadowheart is carrying
- Reveal the location of the grove
- Fast travel to the grove
- Talk to Zevlor to initiate the fight
- Side with the goblins and Minthara, when the battle commences, open the gates
- Go through the "celebration" after annihilating the grove's residents
Act 2
- Travel through the mountain pass, link up with the goblins
- Follow them to the tower
- Observe as the cult turns on Minthara
- Intervene only verbally - make sure she is imprisoned instead of executed
- Enter the dungeon, find Minthara
- Use the tadpole to enter her mind
- Kill the dungeon guards to allow her to escape
- Use one of the secret exits to avoid fighting the entire tower
- Boat chained in the secret area of the dungeon works great
- Minthara will ask to join you at the camp
- Accept
- ???
- Profit
Minthara's stats are pretty high so she makes a pretty strong Paladin but make sure you only chase her if you are doing an evil playthrough. Otherwise, you will lock yourself out of multiple companions and Karlach's quest line.
