Blizzard have revealed the first details for Diablo 4 Season 1, which is officially titled Season of the Malignant and it's coming on July 20, 2023, to PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
The first season will introduce a bunch of new content including a new boss, items, gear and full-fledged questline, a new dungeon and Malignant Hearts, which is a key new item in Season 1 of this action RPG.
In this guide, we'll focus on these new items, trying to explain what exactly they are and how you can acquire them once Season 1 officially kicks off. Read on below for all the details on Malignant Hearts.
What is Malignant Heart in Diablo 4?
Malignant Heart is a new item in Diablo 4, coming with the release of Season of the Malignant, that can be placed into special Infested sockets in your Jewelry in place of a Normal Gem.
The first Season will feature 32 Malignant Hearts across four different categories.
Basically, these items will provide unique and powerful bonuses for your character and can even break the game according to the developers. The strength of Malignant Hearts will increase as you fight more powerful Malignant creatures.
How to get Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4?
Malignant Hearts can be found across the Diablo 4 world but one of the best places to farm these powerful items are the new Malignant Tunnels, which are highly replayable Dungeons with formidable demons including the newest boss, Varshan the Consumed.
Also, slaying Partly Corrupted enemies which is a type of Malignant Monster, will drop you a Malignant Heart. You can capture these by performing a ritual with the Cage of Binding, an item acquired during the Season’s Questline.
Trying to capture the Heart will cause the Partly Corrupted enemy to be reborn as a Fully Corrupted enemy, making them more powerful and much tougher to beat.
