Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant will start on July 24, 2023.
It will bring the eponymous enemies for the players to slaughter in the endless search for better loot and character upgrades.
Blizzard stated that malignant enemies are essentially the same Elites you faced previously but the twist is that they are tougher and offer interactions after death.
Upon downing a Malignant enemy, the players can interact with its heart to summon more of them from the nearby places on the map and even bring back a stronger version of the defeated enemy.
So why go through all the repetitive steps and punish yourself with stronger enemies? Well, once you kill the Malignant enemy again, it will drop a Caged Heart that can be slotted into gear to give you that extra bit of power.
The devs mentioned these hearts could potentially break the game as they are quite powerful but the actual judgement should be rendered by the players themselves.
There is also a bit of lore to go through if you are keen on following the evergrowing universe of Diablo but let's be honest - everyone will just be after those hearts now. Let's hope the repetitive grind doesn't get even worse.
