Similar to previous titles in the series, Assassin's Creed: Mirage will continue the tradition of blending action with educational value. The game will offer players the opportunity to explore the historical backdrop of Baghdad, allowing them to gain insights into the city's captivating history.
In Assassin's Creed: Mirage, players will uncover the historical context of the game's environment through an extensive Codex. This comprehensive collection of encyclopedic entries will be organized into various topics, including art and science, religion and everyday life, economy, legal system, and more. Through these entries, players will gain a deeper understanding of the rich tapestry of ninth-century Baghdad and its diverse facets.
Each motif will be complemented by a concise textual description and an accompanying photograph. Unlocking these motifs involves visiting any of the 66 in-game locations, where players will encounter customs and objects that can be further explored in the Codex. This interactive approach allows players to deepen their understanding of the depicted culture by delving into additional information provided within the game's extensive Codex.
Ubisoft takes pride in its collaboration with esteemed institutions for this aspect of the game. Notable partners include the exclusive museum, The David Collection in Copenhagen, the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture, and Design, and the IMA Institut du monde arabe, among others. These collaborations ensure that Assassin's Creed Mirage offers an authentic and meticulously researched portrayal of the historical and cultural elements it encompasses.
Ubisoft's historian, Dr. Raphael Weyland, expressed the initial ambitious premise of Assassin's Creed Mirage: to provide players with a deeper understanding of ninth-century Baghdad, a world seldom explored in popular culture. With the freedom to select the topics and motifs to cover, the development team took on the challenge without hesitation. Dr. Weyland proudly emphasised that sensitive subjects such as harems, the role of eunuchs, and slavery were not avoided but instead addressed within the game, ensuring a comprehensive portrayal of the historical context.
