When it comes to shadow-dropping titles during gaming events, there's no one more secretive than the guys from Xbox. Every now and then, a game no one ever heard about comes out and makes a boom, like it was the case a couple of years ago with Hi-Fi Rush or this year with The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered and Ninja Gaiden Black.
Now, during their showcase at Gamescom, Xbox shadow-dropped yet another title that doesn't seem like something special, but all the fans of the deck shooter genre will definitely appreciate such a title. Of course, the game in question is Kill the Brickman, and you can buy it and play it from the very moment it dropped, as the developers at Doonutsaur said: "That’s right, no pre-orders, no wishlists, we dropped it. Ya know, like a Brick."
The game is available on Xbox and Steam, and for a very reasonable price, too. You'll have to pay just £3.99.
About Kill the Brickman
Kill the Brickman is a turn-based rogue-like brick breaker inspired by retro arcade madness. The world has been invaded by the Brickmen, and you’ll need to grab a weapon to shoot your way to safety. Build your own bullet-blasting loadouts by combining relics, clip layouts, and bizarre bullets that explode, corrode, and multiply.
In Kill the Brickman, it is all about preparation. The correct build, including correct weapons and clips with the ammo that fits the corresponding level, will get you through the levels; however, being a rogue-like, dying within a run will set you back to the beginning, so expect loads of frustration, but also fun and challenge.
Apart from the main levels, if you want to challenge yourself even further, you'll be able to tackle the additional ones that will give you more rewards and more frustration along the way. The game is designed in a retro style, which gives it an additional charm using very interesting pixelated visuals.
