Rumours about the yet to be announced PlayStation 5 Pro consoles simply won't go away. First, it's been reported that the console is expected to launch sometime by the end of this year and now, we have some rumours about the enhancements that Sony are implementing into this more powerful version of their console.
According to the reliable insider Kepler, who is a well know source for all things hardware, especially Nvidia and AMD, PlayStation 5 Pro will have some new features from AMD's upcoming RDNA 4 architecture desugn.
Kepler states that the new features found in RDNA 4 could double the performance of ray-tracing in PlayStation 5 Pro, allowing developers to include more ray-tracing features in their games and potentially even path tracing.
Obvioosuly, none of this is officially confirmed by Sony or AMD so take the info with the grain of salt, just like any other rumour or unconfirmed report. That being said, the info that Kepler leaked certainly doesn't look unlikely and such imporvements are somewhat expected.
Unfortunately, we still don't have the price of the Pro console. With these enhancements and potentially other that we don't know about, it's safe to assume that the Pro could be one pricey console. If I had to guess, I'd say $549 would be a realistic price but don't get too surprised if the price gets closer to $599.
If the PlayStation 5 Pro console is indeed on track to launch by the end of the year, then we expect to hear about it sometime over the next couple of months, potentially as we head into Autumn as Summer is usually very dry for major gaming announcements.
