When Rise of the Angry came along, New World introduced the Magnify attribute in order to attempt a more flexible way of letting players switch builds up but ironically, it became one of the most rigid systems in the game.
One is basically obligated to run items with Magnify and at that point, they are unable to run even-stat builds anymore, meaning you can't have 200 Strength, 200 Dexterity and 200 Constitution, despite having enough points at 700 Gear Score.
The reason is the bad way Magnify was implemented and it seems like it's not going anywhere for the time being.
In the latest Q&A video, Amazon Game Studios were asked whether they would actually change the way the system works because the current version severely degrades the usefulness of Magnify items and while the team initially said it is one of the most asked questions, they quickly shot everyone's hopes down by saying there are no immediate plans to change it.
On the other hand, they are currently exploring options to make the "flexible" attribute viable in multi-stat builds.
In case you are wondering why people have so many issues with Magnify, it is because you can no longer run a build without it. All artefact items have Magnify on them and going around without artefacts puts you at a disadvantage.
When you choose the other evil and use Magnify, your only build option is to go all the way to 350 in one stat and distribute the rest of the points as you see fit. Unless you put them all in one stat, at which point there is a chance that stat will become the dominant one, depending on how many Magnify items you have equipped.
