NRG is still to face the second Eastern team in the entire tournament, although Europe is also technically east of North America.
In any case, it is mostly Western vs Western teams and Eastern vs Eastern.

MAD Lions have lost two matches against North American teams and faced a European one in the other game, which is also their only win so far. Now they finally have to test their grit against a Chinese team in the first matchup with a team from one of the two strongest regions.
The story is somewhat the same with NRG, who won only against European and North American teams in the first three rounds, losing against the aforementioned Weibo Gaming. Now they face another European team but this time around, it is first seed vs first seed.
In the remaining matchups, it is LCK vs LPL, who are all highly likely to reach the knockout stage either way. Gigabyte Marines (GAM) are the only team remaining in the tournament that isn't a part of the four major regions and they have to fight for survival against Damwon Kia, who basically had a speed run against BDS, LEC's fourth seed.
