Farming is an intrinsic trait of MMOs but some people take it a few steps too far apparently, leading to some incredible feats but sometimes also to negative consequences.
This was the case with a Guild Wars player who reached the maximum experience in ArenaNet's 18-year-old MMO.
Usually, MMOs stop awarding experience once you reach the maximum level but this was not the case with Guild Wars, where you could wear the higher number as a badge of honour and back in the day, some people even used it as a measurement of one's skill in PvE.
As it turns out, the maximum of experience one could gain in the game was 4,294,967,294, which is equal to 232.
Upon reaching the number, the player was locked out of their character as the game simply crashes when they try to enter with that particular toon.
When the player shared the experience, others were a bit suspicious that it might be a botter but others did the maths and proved that farming that much experience over the years was possible to do by hand.
Considering that Guild Wars barely ever gets touched with patches anymore, it remains to be seen whether the devs will actually dedicate work hours to do something about the issue or just let characters who reach maximum experience rest in some sort of ascendance limbo.
