Amazon Games have today unveiled a slate of exciting content for their MMORPG New World, which is entering Season 9 on July 29, 2025. Season 9: Season of the Banner will feature the full release of Capture the Flag mode, a new 3v3 Arena map and seasonal events, rewards and more.
In addition to Capture the Flag and the abovementioned content, players can expect balance adjustments, performance improvements, and expanded seasonal progression.
Here’s everything coming in Season 9:
Capture the Flag mode
New World: Aeternum is stepping up its PvP offerings with the introduction of Capture the Flag in Season 9, dubbed the "Season of the Banner." The mode launches with two maps that were named by the community, designed to bring chaotic flag battles with a unique Aeternum twist. Expect fast-paced skirmishes and tactical plays as teams fight to control the battlefield and secure victory.
New 3v3 Arena map: Verdant Court
Alongside Capture the Flag, Season 9 also introduces Verdant Court - a brand-new map for the 3v3 Arena mode. Set within an ancient temple, this map features tight corridors that encourage close-quarters combat and strategic team fights. The design is meant to challenge players to rethink their usual tactics and adapt to the map’s confined spaces.
Seasonal events and limited-time bonuses
Season 9 is also packed with seasonal events and returning fan favourites. Players can look forward to the Summer Medleyfaire and World Boss Events: Expedition Unleashed, both offering fresh challenges and updated rewards. These events aim to keep the world of Aeternum feeling alive and evolving throughout the season.
Previewing the new Outpost Rush map
As an extra treat, players will get a special preview of a brand-new Outpost Rush map before its full rollout in Season 10. This limited-time event will give adventurers a chance to jump into the new battlefield early and offer feedback ahead of its wider release.
Roadmap updates and what’s next
Amazon Games has also shared an updated living roadmap, outlining what’s coming next for New World: Aeternum. The roadmap includes content that is currently in development as well as new features still in early exploration stages. More details are expected to be revealed after the launch of Season 9, so fans should keep an eye out for future announcements.
