The largest update to Amazon's MMORPG New World comes with its latest expansion, New World: Aeternum itself, heading into an open beta starting September 13, before the full release on October on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
The New World: Aeternum is very much like a remastered version of the original New World launched back in 2021. Where early confusion reigned supreme over what Aeternum was supposed to be, it's now starkly clear that this update brings out a new and fleshed-out version of the game.
It still holds on to its main features: class-based action, crafting, and questing are still there, but several new features have been added into the mix.
This reboot includes a far more accelerated storyline and in-game cinematic and pre-rendered cutscenes, improving the combat mechanics. Cross-platform play was added, and controller compatibility is much more refined.
A whole list of new features also includes New World's first big-scale PvP area, a 10-player raid for endgame solo trials, and several other releases.
An open beta will be offered for players to test most features before launch, especially new ones, with a smaller version on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
It provides access to the first part of Aeternum in a way of providing the starting experience and quest line up to level 30. This beta also includes mounts, arenas, and expeditions.
The beta runs from September 13th at 9:00 AM PT until September 16th, with pre-loads for the beta client starting on September 11th.
While progress made during the beta cannot carry over to the full game, players can earn in-game rewards that will become available once the game launches. In all its glory, New World: Aeternum will drop on October 15th across each platform.
