God of War Ragnarok Art Director Raf Grassetti has left Sony Santa Monica Studio to work on Netflix's mysterious AAA video game project.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica Studio (SIE Santa Monica) Art Director Raf Grassetti has left the God of War team to join Netflix and work on a mysterious AAA project.
Grassetti announced the news on his personal Twitter just a couple of days after confirming his departure from the PlayStation studio, expressing his delight over this new endeavour.
"I’m happy to announce that I’ve joined Netflix to develop a new original IP AAA game. I’m really excited to build a team and to work with the amazing Joseph Staten, Jerry Edsall and Chacko Sonny to bring a new world to life," Grassetti tweeted.
Netflix already hired some big names for this project including Halo writer Joe Staten, Gears of War 5 Programmer Jerry Edsall and Overwatch Producer Chacko Sonny.
The details about Netflix's AAA project are pretty scarce at the moment. We know nothing about the game except that it's an ambitious original new IP as the streaming giant are looking to enter the AAA gaming industry with a statement.
Netflix own many popular franchises like Stranger Things, Extraction and Squid Game so it would not be surprising if they're looking to adapt these into video games. However, nothing is officially announced at the time of writing so everything you read and hear is just speculation, unless it comes from Netflix directly.
There are certainly a lot of possibilities for Netflix now that they have a world-class development team made of some of the biggest creators in the industry so we can't wait to finally see the game in the near future.
