All the speculations we have been hearing in the last couple of days about new free games for PlayStation Plus service users happen to be completely wrong.
The loudest speculations were that Sony would be giving away FIFA 23, while others were convinced that they would go for the not-so-popular Call of Duty: Vanguard, among other less bombastic titles, but Sony decided to break the silence and announce free games for their service seven days earlier.
According to the official PlayStation website, the next month's PS Plus free games will be:
- NBA 2K23
- Jurassic World Evolution 2
- Trek to Yomi
This is the first time Sony has actually revealed the PS Plus free games on their official PlayStation website before they become available to users. In the past, information could be discovered that had been leaked on a few other websites, but Sony would typically confirm the information when the games were accessible for download or possibly a day before.
Another peculiarity is that this is the first time that all three titles feature both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions, implying that Sony is actually sharing the most expensive versions of the games, as double versions are generally the most expensive on the PlayStation Store. After FIFA 22, which was offered on PS Plus in the spring of last year, this is only the second time that Sony has given away a sports game from the current season.
