Sony have plenty of exciting titles in the pipeline for PlayStation 5 but I bet you didn't expect one of them to be a 2D metroidvania akin to the excellent action adventure Blasphemous. According to the latest rumours Sony plan to announce such game and the second crazy part of this rumour is that the game is actually a God of War spin-off that we're getting.
Apparently it's a very small project set in Greece before Kratos became a God and will feature Deimos, the second main character in God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Sony Santa Monica are supervising the project but the name of the dev is not known at this point.
We do have some speculation that it could be the developer of critically acclaimed 2D horror adventure Five Nights at Freddy's: Into The Pit - Mega Cat Studios.
It will certainly be intersting to see how such game would fit into the God of War universe. Personally, I'm very excited to see this as I'm a big fan of 2D metroidvanias like Blasphemous (Blasphemous 2 was so good) and God of War series certainly has plenty of awesome monsters, locations and lore to make this spin-off very interesting.
This rumoured title could be announced at tonght's State of Play so tune in and who knows, we might get to see a completely different God of War game.
