Shift Up is reportedly exploring a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade, according to a new report from Korea. Originally a PlayStation 5 exclusive, the stylish action game later expanded to PC and may now be headed to Nintendo’s fresh-out-of-the-oven console as part of the studio’s growing multi-platform strategy.
According to sources cited in the Korean gaming industry, Shift Up has recently acquired a development kit for Switch 2 and begun early internal testing. The kit includes platform-specific APIs, test software, and debugging tools that help the team assess hardware compatibility and performance optimisation.
The studio is said to be leveraging its experience developing for PS5 and PC, with a focus on adapting Stellar Blade to Switch 2’s low-power architecture and hybrid portable design.
While the current version of the game is known for its high-end visuals and fluid action, Shift Up’s optimisation work on PC, which included support for DLSS 4, FSR 3, ultrawide resolutions, and unlocked frame rates, has been praised for running well on lower-spec hardware, which could be good news for the rumoured Switch 2 port.
Stellar Blade is a massive success
Despite being a single-player title, Stellar Blade drew over 180,000 concurrent players on Steam shortly after launch and sold over 1 million copies in just three days. The PC version also sparked a strong modding scene, with user-made content including custom costumes, visual effects, map edits, and meme-based creations helping sustain interest in the game.
However, the closed nature of Nintendo’s ecosystem raises questions about how mod support or user-generated content could be integrated, if at all, on the Switch 2. Still, the potential port would signal Shift Up’s commitment to turning Stellar Blade into a long-term, multi-platform franchise.
No official announcement just yet
Before you get all excited, it's worth mentioning that nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Shift Up spokesperson commented that the team is “internally reviewing various possibilities” regarding a potential Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade.
If the port comes to fruition, it would further cement Stellar Blade as a growing IP — one that Shift Up is already connecting with other projects like Goddess of Victory: NIKKE through marketing crossovers and future DLC plans.
